Improving Productivity With Photographic Artwork

Appropriately chosen photographic imagery has long been used by advertising agencies to whet the appetites of consumers and spur on sales. Photographic images and other forms of artwork are also often used as therapeutic aids to relax patients in mental health facilities and calm the nerves of restless waiting room occupants. Photography conveys emotion in ways similar to music - it is, in essence, music for the eyes. In the same ways that a stirring ballad can move one to tears, rousing arrangements from John Phillips Suza marches to hymns of the faith to modern day rock and roll can also instill energy and inspire action. So it is with other art forms such as photography. One of the most overlooked and underutilized tools for ratcheting up productivity is the appropriate use of carefully chosen photographic artwork. If you are looking for ways to increase productivity, improve employee morale, and beautify your work environment at very reasonable cost, consider the use of photographic artwork. It is a low-cost, high-impact investment that pays dividends for years.

Five Steps to Improving Productivity through Artwork

1. Simplicity of subject matter. The artwork that best stimulates productivity is comprised of images that convey power and stimulation without resorting to entertainment. In other words, the message of the medium must be sufficiently clear that it is understood immediately. Images that are complex, multi-subject structures will hold the eye too long, as the viewer considers the intricacies on the image, and deconstructs it visually, evaluating the independent elements. Instead, single-subject images with clarity and purpose are most effective.

2. Project power. Subject matter in motivational imagery should not be complicated, and should not contain more than a single word or perhaps two, if it contains text at all. Ideally, the subject is the message. The subject portrayed in a manner that conveys power, action, and passion. The subject may range from a single flower to a soldier in the midst of a battle cry battle to a mountain thrusting itself majestically through the clouds. But the insight and artistry of the photographer is required to capture the subject and convey its essence and its texture powerfully to the viewer. That power and passion may be achieved through the use of color, the positioning of the subject within the frame, or the drama surrounding the event portrayed. (This is often accomplished using motion blurs and similar devices.) Consider the drama portrayed in whitewater rafting images, BMX bicycling images, and other images that reflect power, determination and purpose.

4. Climb with color. Subject matter is the central element of the motivational image, but not the only one. The appropriate use of color helps to inspire and elevate energy levels. Even a single flower bloom, and the spectacular rays of an emerging daybreak across the crystal-blue surface of a lake can provide strong, positive subliminal messages of hope and vibrancy. Like all elements of the photographic artwork, color can be over-blown. The appropriate balance to be struck here is strength and life without garishness and over-manipulation.  But just as black-and-white photography serves to depress the mood and darken the outlook, properly lit color and texture serves to brighten outlooks, and lift spirits.

5. Present perfectly. The final critical element of motivating artwork is presentation. Wide, ornate frames typically distract the viewer's eye from the subject of the image, diluting the drama and energy that would otherwise be conveyed. However, matting often has the opposite effect when it is done well, picking up and amplifying the colors and textures of the subject like a visual megaphone. The presentation is a matter of location, lighting, and housing. For optimal impact on productivity, photographic artwork should be placed where natural breaks in the routine will cause the eye to fall on the artwork in return trips to the place of work. For example, when artwork that is designed to motivate and inspire is hung in foyers and annexes, it should be placed on walls where it will be viewed naturally as employees return to work - not where they will see it as they are leaving for lunch, or at the end of the day. In order to avoid desensitization, it is also useful to display this artwork where it is not in the constant eyeline of the employee, in order to preserve its freshness and extend the life of its impact as a motivator and productivity tool.

Photographic Artwork is a Great Business Investment
These five steps will help you capture significant recurring productivity improvement as a result of the powerful subliminal forces of visual artwork. Compelling photographic art is the best way to present the most attractive and uplifting aspects of the real world, and consistently motivate employees. It is a great investment in your business that will pay dividends year after year.

Get Back to Low Rider Biking

A popular style of bike that is coming back into vogue lately is the low rider bike. Unlike standard bikes, that people may use for exercise or transportation, they add comfort and style to the biking experience. For many, riding one is more than just a hobby, it is a lifestyle. Through their bikes, many enthusiasts find a way to express their own personality. There are those who think nothing of spending thousands of dollars on sound systems, individualized hydraulics, and beautiful murals to their low rider bikes. The thrill of building or customizing a low rider is almost as important as riding it and showing it off to admirers.

Many of these bikers join together to form clubs. There is a great advantage to joining such a club, since it gives the bikers a chance to feel that they belong to a community, and they can share all of their ideas and find resources for improving their low riders. For the younger set, it is a great way to meet new people while learning a great skill and getting exercise doing it. These clubs are also very active in organizing biking competitions. These competitions allow the participants to showcase their bikes and their skills, as well as meet people from all over the country.

If you remember the popular show from the sixties "The Munsters", you will remember that Eddie Munster rode one of the earliest low rider bikes ever seen. His was a Stingray style bike by Schwinn, but customized by George Barris to the unique low rider contours. This has remained, since the sixties, one of the most popular styles of them. When mountain bikes and BMX bikes came into popularity in the eighties, the sport of low rider bikes fell out of favor with the biking public, but they are coming back into style once again, both for young bikers who like the sportiness of them and for older bikers who like the stylishness of them.

If you decide to get in on this great sport, there is a wide range of choices open to you. Many people like to buy the components and build their own customized low rider bike. All of the resources, including instructions as will as parts, can be easily found on various sites on the Internet. If you are not handy, you can have a customized bike made for you, by giving the specifications you are interested in. Clubs often have their own websites that have a wealth of information on the topic. They will usually have a section showing all of the members' mountain bikes, so you can get great ideas for designs. Of course, mountain bike manufacturers websites will also have all of the information you may need. It is well worth boning up on this topic before you make the commitment to buy or build a low rider bike, so you have a full understanding of the sport, and can therefore enjoy it for a long time to come.

Elementary Bicycle Maintenance - Tires, Tubes and Wheels

If you ride a bicycle the chances are that some day at some point it will break. In fact I received a program the other day on a CD called Ride it Break it Fix it which is all about repairing and maintaining a good functioning bicycle.

There are those people that ride bicycles that have no desire to learn how to repair them, but even those people should know how to do some simple maintenance, fix a flat or do other minor repairs.

I personally have ridden a bicycle as much as 120 Miles in 1 day. I put between 2000 and 3000 miles on my bike annually, so I need to be able to do some minor repairs with minimal tools when out away form my home base. Many recreational riders will not need to have as in depth knowledge as a person that rides as often or as much as I do, however they should still know a few things. This report will help you decide what you should know based on your mechanical ability and riding style.

Anyone that rides alone should know at least how to fix a flat tire. If you always ride with a group or you always ride with a partner, especially if your ride with a partner that is very mechanical you may be able to get by without this knowledge. You should still know how to check the tire pressure and what it should be. Most of the time you will find the recommended tire pressure right on the side of the tire. Check the tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge, not by the feel of the tire. Some tubes have Presta Valves, some have Schrader Valves, and make sure you know which one you have. Most of the pumps in the US are made for Schrader and unless you have an adapter with you or your companion does, you may be out of luck even if you have a new tire and tube.

You can purchase at most bike shops and at most online bike stores such as Bike Nashbar, Bikmania, and Performance Bike a small device that pumps up bike tires using a CO2 cylinder. These take a while to get used to using, so buy some extra cartridges, you are very likely to drain the first few without getting anything in the tire itself.

It is best if you always carry an extra tube, or at the very least a patch kit. I have found that patching a Mountain Bike Tube seems to work, patching a road bike tube appears to be an exercise in futility. Your best bet if you ride a road bike is to carry an extra tube, and unless you are very good with the CO2 inflator, get a frame pump. I have had to carry my road bike for a few miles one time and now I always carry a new tube.

Here's something no one ever tells you that could save you a real headache. In order to replace the tube you need to take the old tube out of the tire and after you do check the tire itself by running something along the inside. If you feel anything check to make sure it is not the cause of the blowout, glass or a tack can get stuck in the tire, if you put the new tube in a tire that has some sort of foreign object going through it then the new tube will get flattened also.

Also before you put the new tube in, blow it up and make sure there are no kinks. You don't have to blow it up too much, just enough to get the kinks out that are there from it being folded up in the box, or wrapped in a bag. Check also that the new tube has no leaks. I have had a few brand new tubes that had bad valves, or even holes in them. I have also had tubes literally explode after they were placed in the tire. The exploding tube can often be avoided by making sure the tube is not twisted inside the tire. The narrower tires that use the Presta Valve are the most likely to have the problem. Install them carefully and make sure that there are no foreign objects in your tire.

If you have quick release hubs on your bike then you won't need any wrenches to remove the wheel from the bike. For most bikes you will need a wrench to remove the wheels from the bike itself. A set of tire removal tools are invaluable for changing a tube. I have one that I bought in Arizona back about 20 years ago. It does not need to be fancy, the best one I have looks like a plastic screwdriver with a strange head on it. I also have some Maxxis Tools that my grandson Jason won at McDonough Georgia at a BMX Race. He picked up some Maxxis tires that day too.

Once you have replaced the tube and repaired the flat and have put the tire back on the bike you should check the wheel for True. That simply means that when you spin the wheel does it wobble back and forth or does the brake pads or the fork stay the same distance from the side of the tire all the way around?

Some of the causes of wobble can be a broken or weak spoke. It also can be that the tire is not centered or that the quick release has not been tightened properly. You can ride a bike for a while with a wheel that is out of true, but you should have it checked and repaired at a shop very soon after finding the problem. If you have a broken spoke or a bent spoke, you should have the bike checked by a competent shop ASAP. If it is a matter of the wheel is incorrectly seated or the quick release not being tightened simply re-seat the wheel or tighten the quick release.

I plan to make a series of these reports on various aspects of bike repair and maintenance and will possibly be doing some videos that relate to these reports.

Dirt Bike Reviews Can Save You Money

There is nothing quite like dirt biking, it blows all the cobwebs away and gets work out of your head for awhile or hopefully a lot longer. But you need to make sure that you are getting the best gear for your money. Dirt bike gear does not come cheap and there is plenty of sub standard stuff out there that will give you very little bang for your buck. Then again, a lot of the original maker's gear can be good, but it is just so much more expensive than the pattern parts and accessories that it seems a bit pointless paying that much more for it. Of course the quality's there but just because some of the alternatives are made by other companies that doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to be inferior. Even if they are not quite as good, then the difference in price might still make the pattern parts worth going for.

Of course, the trouble is that unless you know someone that has used them, how do you know which are the good parts and accessories that will give you great performance as well as a considerable cost savings over the original parts. Well, probably the best answer is too look at as many dirt bike reviews in biking magazines as you can. Dirt bike magazines very often have sections where they try out new and used pattern parts and give you the low down on which are the best for the price they cost.

Many Internet dirt bike review sites also have a section for parts and accessories and you can pick up some really good tips there. After all, what is the point in spending all your hard earned money without knowing if the items that you are buying are any good or not or if you could get the same thing cheaper and just as good?

However probably the best of all the dirt bike review mediums is the many different dirt bike forums and Internet chat rooms. These are really great because of the fact that they are interactive. You don't have to go through piles of dirt bike reviews in magazines or sites to find what you are looking for, you just ask a question and then see if anyone else has used the parts that you are thinking of buying. That way you can not only get a review, but probably the best review around, someone that has actually used the things and can tell you what you need to know. If you are thinking of upgrading or getting some replacement items then it is worth trying to get some feed back to make sure that you are getting best that you can afford.

Bike Wheel Types - The Right Wheel For Your Cycling Lifestyle

Not every biker is unique and they have different needs and purposes for riding a bicycle. Some people ride their bikes to serve as replacement for cars while some ride them as a sport or for racing. Knowing the bike wheel types allows you to make the most of your bicycle while ensuring that your cycling needs are met efficiently.

The mountain bike wheel

Among the most common bike wheel types is the mountain bike wheel that is designed for mountain bikes. They usually have 26-inch rims that are often the standard size for mountain bikes and they also have clincher tires. However, you can also find them nowadays in tubeless variants. Still, mountain bike wheels contain low air pressure so they can absorb shock better. These wheels are suitable for off-road cycling that usually consist of steep climbs, dirt trails, unpaved roads, etc.

For racing and stunts

There are also bike wheel types suitable for rougher conditions including stunts and racing purposes. For stunts and jumps, the ideal wheels to use are BMX wheels can provide you with more pressure and shock absorption to support your moves and swerves. On the other hand, there are racing wheels that are lighter so you can swerve quickly through various race tracks. Racer wheels are also aerodynamic and are thinner and leaner.

Buy according to usage

Aside from your riding style, it is important to match the bike wheels to the type of bike that you have. That way, you can ensure that your bike is able to perform well for you as a mode of transportation, for racing, or for riding on rough roads. The lighter the wheels are, the lesser drag issues you encounter so you can pedal effortlessly. Meanwhile, buy stronger and thicker bike wheels if you are into riding or if you need to let your bike pass through rough roads.

Bicycle Designs & Styles - Choosing Between Custom Made Cycles and Factory Built Bikes

Currently there are many types of bicycles available. Even so, the standard safety bicycle design developed in the 1800's is the basis of our current bicycle designs. The types of bicycle most commonly used today are mountain bikes, cruisers, touring bicycles, racing bikes, BMX's and utility bikes. The class a bicycle falls in hinges on a number of elements; style of construction, number of passengers, gearing and propulsion.

Mountain bicycles were intended for trail and mountain riding where the terrain is tough. The frames are constructed to resist the rough treatment of riding in natural settings. In addition, special tires and gearing make it easier for riders to get the power they require to keep moving.

BMX bicycles are another unique style. These cycles usually have little 16 - 24 inch traction treaded tires. They are small framed, making them easier to maneuver and much faster. BMX bikes are usually used for racing and even for doing fantastic tricks.

Racing cycles are designed for road cycling and they are all about speed. They're light weight and have excellent handling. Racing bicycles use drop handlebars, positioned lower than the saddle. This puts the riders body in the best possible aerodynamic posture. The closeness of the derailleur gear ratios permit the rider to pedal at the most effective cadence.

Touring bikes are unique in that they have racks mounted on them to carry the riders gear. These racks are attached to the frame of the bicycle in front and back. The wheel base is also longer than on a standard bike, which makes it able to carry more weight. Also, features such as wider tires and additional water bottle mounts are commonly incorporated.

Tandem bicycles carry two or more passengers at once. Tandem refers to the way the seats of the bicycle are set up, and not to the number of passengers it will carry. All the passengers of a tandem bike pedal, providing power. In most tandem set ups, the front rider controls the steering just like in a standard bicycle.

Low rider bicycles are normally home-built, extraordinary customized bikes. They have normally got an old-school curled banana seat with a extremely tall sissy bar. Ape-hangers are the norm for handlebars, giving the bicycle a "chopper" look & feel. They're normally chromed to the limit and have glittery, high spoke-count wheels.

Recumbent bikes & trikes are designed so that the rider is reclining back in a low-statured position. Also commonly referred to as 'bents. The seat supports the passengers back and the legs are extended forward to the pedals. The seat and pedals are usually at the same height. Tires used on recumbents are commonly smaller and farther apart than they are on an upright bike. Recumbents can be guided using either over- or under- seat steering.

There are other types of human powered vehicles referred to as "bikes" too. Though they are not technically regarded as bicycles, they work on the same general principles. They include unicycles, tricycles and quadracycles. Fun to ride, no doubt, none of these styles are used very often.

Despite the multitude of bicycles that are commercially available, there are always those that want to construct their own. Building a bicycle, trike, or tandem at home is fun and not awful hard. In fact, nearly anybody with a can-do attitude, a a couple of tools and some simple instruction could build a decent bicycle.

Bike building can be done in a shed or garage and it's an excellent small project. For individuals that want a custom-made bike without the custom built cost it's an excellent choice. The bicycle you make could bring back a old-time style or lead the pack into the future of bike construction.

Whether you decide to ride a factory built bicycle or a unique custom bike, the important thing is to get out there and ride! Next time, we'll discuss the important topic of bicycle safety.

Leaps Of Faith - Extreme Sports With Adventurous Appeal

Extreme sports have traditionally been the preserve of only the maddest, baddest and most dangerous to know, and of course rebellious teenagers keen to worry their mums. However, as with any trend worth its salt, the history and variety of 'extreme' activities - also known as action, adventure or dangerous sports - are more interesting than many people realise, and there are well-established organisations which can help make delving into their adrenaline-pumping world almost as safe as any other hobby.

The phrase 'extreme sports' only came into use in the 1990s, probably thanks to the first television coverage of organised events like the X Games. Many enthusiasts actually dislike the term, arguing that most typical activities such as bungee jumping, hang gliding and ice climbing are not 'sports' in the sense of competing against others to win something, and the 'extreme' tag just smacks of mid-90s advertising hype.

Whatever you prefer to call it, extreme sports is a loose and ill-defined category which can include fairly mainstream pastimes like inline skating, BMX biking and snowboarding, (activities which can all involve elaborate spins, stunts and tricks) as well as more 'out-there' pursuits such as BASE jumping, freediving, zorbing, swooping, kite landboarding, volcano gliding, shark diving, octopus wrestling, nude parasailing, mafioso cuckolding (alright, that one's not real).

Just as some of these fall out of fashion - for instance, octopus wrestling is now considered cruel - new sports and clubs are growing up all the time, although several are tongue-in-cheek parodies such as extreme wheelbarrow and the celebrated extreme ironing. Skateboarding and snowboarding, or 'snurfing' as it was originally called, have been popular since their inception in the 1950s and 60s, while kite surfing can trace its origins back to thirteenth-century China when kites were used, just like sails on boats, to harness the power of the wind and allow streamlined, one-man canoes to go much faster for practical reasons, not just fun!

With so much choice and interest in these previously niche activities, it's unsurprising that an industry is springing up around extreme sports instruction and adventure holidays, where novices can learn the basics of a sport and then let loose their adventurous spirits in a supervised environment. These experiences could be the ideal gift for the 'person who has everything'; don't you know someone who'd rather spend their honeymoon in a cage in the Indian Ocean baiting great white sharks, than admiring their new toaster? Don't we all?! How about bouncing down a hill in a three-metre, transparent PVC ball, with or without the optional water, and other people, inside it? It's called zorbing, and it's seriously taking off as the latest way to spend a fun weekend, from New Zealand to Bournemouth.

Bear in mind that some activities should not be attempted by absolute beginners; the BASE jumping academy will only admit 'students' who have completed 200 skydives, and swooping, or 'extreme skydiving', is similar. As long as you're clued up about such regulations, got any necessary equipment, and perhaps made sure your life insurance is up to date, though, why not explore a new activity today - the sky really is the limit!

Beach Cruisers - Defining Adventure

Bicycles are with human beings since more than 100 years. It has seen several reforms in terms of speed, design, utility and usability. People use bicycles for short distance commuting, children use bicycles to go to school, fitness enthusiasts use cycle for exercising, and one most important use of cycling is in sports like mountain biking, beach biking, and cycle races.

Beach Cruisers or Cruiser bicycles are bikes with heavy duty frames and wide tires. Such bikes were introduced first in America, and it became very much popular. Their wide tires provided better balance and simple mechanicals ideally suited to riding on flat sandy beaches. These cycles became popular among people passing time on beaches during the 1960s and 1970s, that's why they are popularly known as Beach Cruisers.

Gary Fisher and Joe Breeze led the foundation of Mountain Bikes by adding superior brakes, and gears to them. build and sell custom mountain bikes to fellow enthusiasts, launching a worldwide cycling phenomenon. They started building and selling custom mountain bikes to mountain cycling enthusiasts, launching a worldwide cycling phenomenon.

Changing Mood Of People

Human mind is always dependent on fashion and trends. The trend of riding a cruise bike became very much popular in America, and Europe, not only among mountain riders, and beach bikers but also among general public. Middle aged people who have the money and purchasing power and who were less interested in owning a faster motor bike, due to their lost passion after an age, started to like these modern day multipurpose cruisers. The benefits were endless; these cruisers provided enough speed to commute from one place to another, proper driving comfort, powerful breaks and gears to make your driving experience easy. Another addition in this list was no polluting emissions like other motorbikes, which made them more popular.

Beach biking also becomes a rage these days, due to fine cruise designs, better dynamics, and option to accommodate your whole body with proper comfort. One can easily experience the pleasure of beach cruising with a lovely cruise biker or a wonderful biking cruise biking session.

Mini ATV Tires

For non-ATV enthusiast, this might sound like news but for those who are familiar with the workings of ATVs, we know that Mini ATV tires play a huge role in defining the performance of our ride. Thankfully, due to technology, there is a wide range of Mini ATV tires in the market, therefore, ATV enthusiasts are actually quite spoilt for choice. Does it make a difference which Mini ATV Tires you use? Of course it does.

Observing the restrictions of your Mini ATV tires’ operating pressures is particularly important of operating your Mini ATV. The Mini ATV tires’ operating pressures are often molded right there on the tire sidewall itself.

Put on a Great School Assembly Program

If you want to make waves with the kids at school this year, consider a school assembly program that won't bore them with talk, talk, talk and nothing else. Sure, the kids will listen, but you'll never know how much of the information they're actually going to absorb. Either that, or they end up squirming and fidgeting through the entire thing, wondering when it's going to be over.

With an exciting school assembly program, the kids will be groaning with disappointment when it's over! What kind of program are we talking about? How about action-packed extreme sports shows that combines riveting music, educational topic discussions, and action all into one? An extreme BMX stunt show riding team can provide everything any school assembly program needs to keep the attention levels high, the focus on topic and provide enough impact to make it a lasting memory.

Whether you need a school assembly program to promote Red Ribbon Week, bicycle safety, drug awareness or other topics that cover school safety, health and motivation, an extreme sports school assembly program is not only relevant to kid interest these days, but can make a difference when nothing else can. Watching grown-ups don safety gear, talk about important issues and provide thrilling stunts all at the same time will make a lasting impression on kids at any well-planned school assembly program, no matter their grade level, throughout the country.

When it comes to ensuring that those kids are going to remember the lessons you've tried to teach, drive it home with a bang. An extreme sports show will spice up any school assembly program, no matter what your topic, and have them talking among themselves about it for months afterward. Whether you're on the PTA planning committee, a member of student council or a concerned parent, suggest an extreme sports show to offer your kids at your next school assembly program not only information and education, but awe-inspiring excitement as well.

Tennessee State Fair Has Animal Fun

Gads of entertaining events can be found at the Tennessee state fair in Nashville. During the month of September each year you'll find everything from animal and vegetable exhibits to Robots strutting their stuff on stage. Also High School Bands from across the state are selected and invited to join the Bands and Fans in the Stands event. Parking at the fair is a cinch if you have an RV. The grounds feature a safe and secure park for visitors who want to camp out a little and spend more than the usual day at the fair. Why not spend the entire 10 days of the fair camping out?

There are lots of animal shows and exhibits available for the fairgoing public. Come and see both Tigers and Sharks on the same grounds. The Tigers of India exhibit features rare tigers of the full range of color variations. The tigers have been raised by hand and enjoy 'playtime' with their human counterparts. Visitors can sit under a shaded canopy to enjoy the Live Shark Encounter featuring professional divers and great white sharks. After the show audience members can have their pictures taken with the Jaw of an ancient 60 foot shark called the Carcharodon Megalondon.

For some thrills and chills visitors should head over to the Bike Stunt Show and the Aerial Thrill Show. In the bike stunt show watch some of the top BMX ramp riders and inline skaters and skateboarders perform fast paced stunts. The Aerial Thrill Show features the stunts of accomplished aerialist and artists who routinely engage in death defying feats, including a globe of death, and the stratospheric swaypoles.

Head over to the Volunteer Village and watch Sorghum Savory turned into sweet syrup the old fashioned way over heated fires. This Sorghum can be preserved for long periods of time without chemical preservatives. After visiting Volunteer Village head over to the Great Lakes Timber Show featuring chainsaw carving, ax throwing, wood chopping, one and two-man crosscut sawing, modified chainsawing, and log rolling.
